Zambales plea to be in approved modified ECQ

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES – The Central Luzon Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) approved the Zambales provincial government’s request to extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the province for another 15 days or until May 31 .

The IATF resolution, which was published on Wednesday (May 13), allowed the province to be placed under a modified ECQ from May 16 to 31.

The task force said local officials were in a better position to know what their areas needed.

This came after some provinces in central Luzon, which should be in General Community Quarantine (GCQ), requested ECQ extensions.

The 13 cities in Zambales will remain under modified ECQ. As of Wednesday (May 13), the province has listed 16 confirmed cases and 378 COVID-19 suspects.

However, Olongapo City will move to GCQ, which has more relaxed restrictions, starting Saturday (May 16).
