Manila, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (May 10) shared some good news on Twitter amid the 2019 coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19).
In its Twitter post, the DFA said it has not registered any new cases of the deadly pandemic among Filipinos abroad.
“Today, for the first time since DFA began issuing estimates of COVID-affected nationals abroad, there are no new confirmed cases and deaths due to COVID-19 reported by our foreign service posts,” the message said.
While it could be that this is just the result of weekend drops in reports, it is still worth taking note. Just as significant, the only reports that came were of two Filipino patients who recovered in 2 different countries in Europe ”, he added.
The department also reported via Twitter that the country now has 24 certified laboratories / facilities for COVID-19 testing.
“For the information of all OFWs and their families, there are now 24 government certified laboratories / facilities for COVID-19 testing as of May 9, 2020. The latest addition to certified laboratories is De La Salle University – Cavite in Region IV -A, “said the publication.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) announced that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is now 10,794.
As of 4 PM Sunday, DOH reported 184 new cases (PH10611-PH10794) from the NCR with 77 additional new cases, Region 7 with 75 additional and 32 additional new cases from different regions.
The health department also announced that another 82 patients have already recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,924. – / mbmf
