The United States repatriates more than 600 Americans in PH in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis

MANILA, Philippines – The United States government has repatriated more than 600 US citizens in the Philippines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The United States embassy in Manila said the repatriation was carried out on Saturday through special flights with Philippine Airlines.

“The United States government has no higher priority than guaranteeing the safety, well-being, and safety of American citizens abroad,” the embassy said in a statement.

As of Sunday, there were 10,794 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, including 1,924 recoveries and 719 deaths.

Meanwhile, the United States is the country most affected by COVID-19 with more than 1.3 million cases, 78,794 deaths, and 212,534 recoveries so far according to the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus and Medicine Resource Center.
