Police shoot a man who became enraged in Quezon City

CITY OF LUCENA – A 53-year-old man who fled while brandishing a machete (bolus) was shot dead by police in Infanta, Quezon early Sunday morning.

Infanta police reported that Arnel Oliva, a Barangay Gumian resident, was creating trouble and scaring people in his town around 2:45 a.m.

When the responding police officers arrived at the scene, Oliva ran to them and repeatedly hacked the police vehicle.

Police tried to appease Oliva, who instead attacked Sergeant Major Lyndel Inolpe, who immediately took out his service weapon and shot him.

Oliva expired on the way to the Claro M. Recto Memorial District Hospital.
