MANILA – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will resume international flight arrivals on Monday May 11, with chartered and commercial aircraft scheduled for specific days, the Philippine Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) said Saturday.

This, after the suspension of all commercial flights at the main international gateway in Manila and eight other airports in the country a week ago as part of measures to prevent the spread of the contagious disease of the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19 ).

The airport continues to operate with limited capacity, with a limit on passenger arrivals.

In a Notice to the Aviator issued by the CAAP Operations Center, incoming international chartered flights “may only land on Mondays and Thursdays” upon authorization from the Department of Foreign Affairs and aviation authorities.

Meanwhile, international commercial flights will be allowed on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, CAAP said.

Airlines must first “obtain CAAP approval 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure from the airport of origin for the assignment and rescheduling of flights required to subscribe to NAIA’s 400 passenger capacity per day,” CAAP said.

CAAP said the restricted flight agreement will remain in effect until June 10 at the Manila airport, “with other international airports in the country that have separate restrictions.”

The NOTAM does not cover emergency, cargo, military and maintenance flights, which were allowed to continue after last week’s suspension order.
