Marcos Maidana claims he still owns Floyd Mayweather’s tooth and uses it as a keepsake after apparently taking it out of the boxing legend’s mouth.

Maidana, a former two-weight world champion, claimed he knocked out Mayweather during his rematch in 2014.

The Argentine flared up after losing his first bout on points, and connected a colored hook right to Mayweather’s jaw in the third round.

Television cameras seemed to capture the moment a gnasher flew out of Money’s mouth, though the pound-for-pound king later denied that he had lost a tooth.

Mayweather said the hit simply “caught my eye” went to winning the fight to bring his record to 47-0, before retiring 50-0.

Marcos Maidana landed a right hook that seemed to send a tooth flying out of Floyd Mayweather’s mouth, although Money denies it.

But that didn’t stop Maidana from wanting a keepsake of their fight, and the 36-year-old posted a photo on Instagram of what he says is Mayweather’s tooth.

Mayweather said after the fight: “In the third round, when he hit me with that shot after the bell, it was a very good shot. It caught my eye.”

“It was nothing I had never felt before, but it was a really good shot that caught my eye.”

When asked if the tooth was broken, Mayweather said, “No, he didn’t pull out my teeth. Not at all!

“He’s a strong guy, he’s a good puncher, but no, as far as my teeth are missing, absolutely not.”

Mayweather, 43, is ready to return to the ring digitally in a series of “virtual” fights against other boxing greats using sophisticated computer models.

But Maidana’s promotion team claimed that he and Mayweather are discussing a sensational trilogy fight early next year.

Jorge Cali, who was due to fight retired Maidana in an exhibition before it was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic, predicts that this time he would beat Mayweather.

Cali told World Boxing News: “Maidana can definitely come back. I know he would believe that if he had a new fight with Floyd, Marcos could definitely win this time.”

“I think we all saw the first fight and we thought he won it. That’s why there was the second one in which Floyd proved to be the undisputed number one.”
