Newcastle poised to make Mauricio Pochettino the third highest paid boss in the world

Newcastle is ready to break the bank to get Mauricio Pochettino as manager, offering him a £ 19m contract a year.

The move would see the former Tottenham boss become the third highest-paid coach in world football.

The acquisition of Mohammed Bin Salman in Newcastle is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, and he wants the acquisition of Pochettino to be the first step in his review of the club.

Pochettino has been out of a job since his dismissal by the Spurs in November last year.

It is believed that the Argentine coach could not accept a new role elsewhere until this summer.

Current Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has not spoken to potential new club owners, including Amanda Staveley, who is finalizing the acquisition on behalf of the Saudi consortium.

But Bruce is resigned to losing his job despite driving his club out of the city from the relegation zone.

The 59-year-old could see the rest of the season if the campaign finally resumes, but he is likely to be replaced before the next period.

Bin Salman is the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and he will become the fourth richest owner in the Premier League once his acquisition is confirmed.

He is willing to offer Pochettino in the region of £ 400,000 per week to take charge in St. James’ Park.

Only Pep Guardiola, of Man City, and Diego Simeone, of Atlético de Madrid, earn a higher salary as managers.

Pochettino’s shares remain high despite his sudden departure from the Spurs, having led the team to the Champions League final and several of the top four on a limited budget.

It has previously been linked to the hotseat in both Real Madrid and Man Utd, but it looks like Newcastle will land their services.
