Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 29) – The Department of Foreign Affairs reported on Wednesday that 40 more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for COVID-19, as the number of infected increases to 1,644.
The DFA also recorded 10 additional deaths among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total to 199.
Of those who contracted the virus, 434 recovered from the disease, as DFA listed 15 additional recoveries.
A total of 1,011 Filipinos abroad are still being treated for the virus.
There are currently 46 countries where Filipinos are infected with COVID-19.
Twelve of those infected are in the Asia-Pacific region, where 365 cases have been recorded. Two of them died while 204 recovered.
In the Middle East and Africa, 350 Filipinos have contracted the virus in 12 countries. Only 13 have recovered, with 18 deaths recorded.
In Europe, the DFA registered 461 cases in 16 countries, with 107 recoveries and 64 deaths.
In the Americas, there are 468 infected Filipinos in six countries, with 110 recoveries and 115 deaths.
Worldwide, COVID-19 has infected 3,126,806 people, according to the latest count from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
It also listed a total of 217,555 deaths and 935,308 recoveries from the disease worldwide.
The United States continues to be the country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 1,012,583. Italy still has the highest number of deaths at 27,359, while Spain has the highest number of recoveries in the world with 123,903.
