MANILA, Philippines – Total COVID-19 cases in the country reached 478,761, as 959 more contracted SARS-CoV-2, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday.
In its daily case bulletin, the DOH said the drop in the number of additional cases is due to a “decrease in the number of patients seen in COVID-19 labs over the New Year.”
New cases bring the number of active cases to 21,219 or 4.4% of the total count.
Quezon City registered the highest number of new cases with 73, followed by Davao City with 70, Rizal with 58, Agusan del Sur 44 and Laguna with 41.
DOH also reported 26 new survivors of COVID-19, bringing the recovery count to 448,258. Meanwhile, six more people died from the respiratory disease, bringing the death toll to 9,263.
The health agency warned the public against complacency, noting that an increase in cases is still possible in the coming weeks.
