8 Pinoys rescued from the South China Sea

Manila, Philippines – Ten crew members of a cargo ship, including eight Filipinos, were rescued by Chinese authorities after their vessel was listed in the South China Sea, the Chinese Embassy in Manila posted on its Facebook page.

A report from the state news agency Xinhua said that provincial maritime authorities in Hainan, China, received a report around 5 p.m. Monday that a Sierra Leone-flagged ship was listing the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea. . The crew members, who also included two Chinese nationals, left the ship and boarded a life raft.
