The number of people who have recovered from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) continued to rise on Thursday, with 633 recoveries more reported by the Department of Health (DOH).
In its case bulletin on Thursday at 4 p.m., the DOH said the country now has a total of 419,902 recoveries, accounting for 92.4 percent of confirmed Covid-19 cases.
However, the death toll also rose with 17 new deaths reported Thursday. This brought the total to 8,850.
Minus recoveries and deaths, the country now has a total of 25,695 active cases, of the 454,447 coronavirus infections recorded since the start of the pandemic. Topping the list of areas with the highest cases on a Thursday is Quezon City, with 74 Infections, followed by Rizal with 64, Makati City with 58, Davao City with 55 and Quezon Province with 46.
DOH reported 1,470 new cases Thursday.
The DOH previously said that there could be an increase in Covid-19 cases after the holidays, noting that people will gather for the Christmas and New Years celebration.
With this, the public has been advised to limit celebrations to immediate family members only and avoid traveling elsewhere.
The health department also reiterated minimum health protocols such as proper hand washing, the use of a mask and face shield, and the observation of social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus. (LMY)
