FIVE cities have received P25 million each for funding and capacity building on Thursday, December 24, 2020 from the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-Barmm).

MILG-Barmm Secretary Naguib Sinarimbo said the recipient city will use the fund to build a two-story municipal hall to better serve their respective constituencies.

Sinarimbo said that the beneficiary cities are Sultan Dumalondong, Butig, Poona Bayabao and Lumbaca Unayan from Lanao del Sur and Pandag from Maguindanao. The five localities are among the municipalities identified without a permanent and conclusive city council for the longest time.

Sinarimbo said the project is part of MILG’s comprehensive intervention and support to local governments through its Local Government Facilities Development Program and the Local Government Support Unit Infrastructure Development Project.

“We are committed to completing the construction of government centers to ensure that our constituents can approach their local elected officials in designated buildings and where people can access services,” he said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
