The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police in the National Capitol Region (PNP CIDG-NCR) identified the police officers as Lieutenant Reynato Basa Jr., Corporal Gino dela Cruz, Edesyr Victor Alipio and Godfrey Duclayan Parentela . They are all assigned to Station 2 of the Olongapo City Police Office.

The only civilian arrested in the raid was Olongapo resident Jericho Dabu, who handed over an identification card identifying him as a member of RHPU3 Force Multiplier, a volunteer crime-fighting group with a chapter based in Olongapo.

Police said Dabu tried to sell a kilo of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, to a phony buyer from the Philippine Drug Control Agency (PDEA), who paid with marked money.

The operation yielded 300 grams of suspect shabu, various laboratory equipment and chemicals used in the manufacture of drugs, four Glock 17 9mm pistols, five cell phones, a 1996 Honda Civic sedan with the license plate UKM 779 and wads of used boodle money in operation. sting operation.

According to SBMA-IIO, the operation began around 2 pm on Thursday, January 14, when the operatives conducted surveillance in the area.

After midnight, officers attacked, first catching Dabu in a shopping trap, then raiding the house at 336-B Finback where the drug lab was hidden, and arresting the four alleged protective police officers.

The SBMA-IIO described the laboratory as a “kitchen-type operation” that can produce around three kilos of shabu per day.

Unconfirmed reports from the PNP indicated that the union behind the illegal drug operation was headed by a foreigner, who is now being tracked.

Meanwhile, SBMA President and Administrator Wilma T. Eisma commended the law enforcement units involved in the operation “for uncovering this scourge that erodes the ideals of the Subic Bay free port as a hub for investment and growth. economic”.
