339 million lottery winner claims prize

MANILA, Philippines – A parent and retired Quezon City employee finally claimed their P339 million jackpot in the Ultra Lotto 6/58 drawing on September 6, the Philippines Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said yesterday.
PCSO General Manager Royina Garma personally delivered the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) check to the sole winner of the jackpot, who requested that the date of their appearance to claim the prize be kept secret.
An elderly man and father of several children, the winner also wanted the smallest details about himself released to the public for the safety of his family.
However, a photo of him, with his face blurred, receiving the check from Garma appeared on social media.
Garma said the winning ticket was purchased at a lottery shop in Quezon City, where the man placed his bet on the combination of numbers 18-19-28-09-01-11, which won the jackpot of exactly P339,217,037.60 .
The award was automatically deducted from the 20 percent tax in accordance with the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Act (TRAIN).
The PCSO quoted the winner as saying that he had been betting on the same combination of numbers for more than 20 years.
She told Garma that her cash award is a response to her desire to ensure her children’s education and give them a better future.
Garma said 57 other bettors won P120,000 each for guessing five of the six-digit winning combination in the same draw.
