MANILA, Philippines – Three police generals have tested positive for coronavirus, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Debold Sinas said on Monday.
They are Brig. Gen. Ronnie Ylagan, outgoing director of the Northern Police District; Brig. General Rommil Mitra, head of the Office of Firearms and Explosives; and Brig. Gen. Joey Runes from the PNP Chief’s Office.
“That came out when we ordered a conference. That is why they did not attend the conference because they are positive, ”Sinas said at a press conference.
(We found out during the command conference. They were unable to attend the conference because they tested positive for COVID-19.)
Sinas said the PNP will also implement a “targeted group swab” test for its staff at Camp Crame for early detection of COVID-19 at the main police camp.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the PNP Health Service has recorded 8,103 COVID-19 cases, with 370 active cases, 7,707 recoveries, and 26 deaths. – Zac Sarao, apprentice
