MANILA, Philippines – Three more legislators from the House of Representatives have joined the Lakas-Muslim Christian Democrats (Lakas-CMD) political party, raising their number to 45.
House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez, party chairman, said Cavite Strike Revilla Second District Representative, Cagayan Representative Samantha Vargas-Alfonso and Davao Occidental Representative Lorna Bautista-Bandigan have joined joined Lakas-CMD.
Revilla, formerly of the National Unity Party (NUP), was sworn in as a member of the political party on Sunday at a hybrid swearing-in ceremony held in Imus, Cavite.
“It is time to go home. Lakas-CMD is home to our family and it feels good to be back home, ”said Revilla.
Romualdez said that the strengthening of Lakas-CMD’s ranks in the House of Representatives was intended to help President Rodrigo Duterte pass the remaining legislative agenda of his administration and ensure that genuine reforms are implemented in the last 20 months of his administration. .
“With Lakas-CMD gaining momentum in the House of Representatives, our party is ready and prepared to work closely with President Lord Allan Velasco to finalize the passage of President Duterte’s entire legislative agenda before our term ends in 2022. ”Said Romualdez. .
With three new members, the number of Lakas-CMDs in the lower house has risen to 45.
