MANILA, Philippines – The severe respiratory illness caused by SARS-CoV-2 has infected 1,797 more people in the Philippines, bringing the total number of infections to 511,679.
The Department of Health (DOH), in its Covid-19 case bulletin on Saturday, showed that new infections have raised the number of active cases to 33,603, which is 6.6 percent of the total number of coronavirus cases in the whole country.
Of the total number of active cases, 82.6 percent are considered mild, 11 percent asymptomatic, 2.2 percent severe, and 0.41 percent moderate.
Meanwhile, 166 more patients have recovered from the respiratory ailment, while 54 more patients have died from the disease. This brought the total number of recoveries and deaths to 467,886 and 10,190, respectively.
The nation’s health department re-reviewed the country’s total Covid-19 count after eliminating five duplicate cases.
Meanwhile, four molecular labs failed to submit their data to DOH’s Covid-19 respiratory data system on Friday, January 22.
