MANILA, Philippines – A total of 1,387 coronavirus infections recorded as of Wednesday brought the total active COVID-19 cases to 26,545, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin also showed 156 more patients recovered from the disease, for a total of 408,942 recoveries, representing 92.1 percent of all cases recorded in the country.
However, seven more deaths bring the death toll to 8,677.
Most active cases, or 85.2 percent, experience mild symptoms, 6.6 percent are asymptomatic, and 2.7 percent have severe symptoms. Another 5.2 percent of patients are currently in critical condition.
Most of the new cases came from Batangas with 71, followed by Quezon City (70), Davao del Norte (64), Benguet (59), and Quezon province (57).
The DOH also said 1,038 of the 26,851 tests conducted Tuesday, or 3.9 percent, tested positive.
The department noted that it had removed eight duplicate entries from the total case count, of which three are recovered cases. They also reclassified a recovered case wrongly entered as a death.
Other than these, the DOH said 13 labs were unable to submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on Tuesday. [ac]
