Android smartphones

The best thing about Android smartphones is the flexibility to customize and personalize the device according to your preferences.

Apple’s iOS is slowly catching up with iOS 14, but for now Android is the perfect operating system to go nuts.

Also, there are many customization apps on Google Play Store.

So if you have just purchased a new Android phone or want to renew your old Android device, here is where and how to start customizing your phone.

Custom launchers

Most of us agree with the native launcher your phone came in, especially if it’s a OnePlus device, a Pixel device, or a Samsung device thanks to the minimalist OxygenOS, Pixel launcher, or One UI respectively.

For the rest of us, we have to tweak the devices by getting a simpler launcher to change the look of our Android devices.

There are a ton of launchers on the Google Play Store. Nova launcher is up to the task: if you have been reading my comments, you will notice that it is my reference launcher.

Custom icon packs

Why stop at custom launchers? Get some custom icon packs too. In the image presented above, you will see that I am not using the native icons; I like to experiment with new icon packs.

Here are some of my favorites:

Custom wallpaper apps

We could also get a wallpaper app while we’re here, right?

Custom widget applications

  • MIUI-ify: allows you to slide quick settings from below instead of from above.
