Persona 4 Gold PC Sales Press SEGA to consider PC from the Get-Go

SEGA launched Persona 4 Golden on PC in early June and the game went on with a similar hit, selling more than 500K units via Steam in a month. User reviews are also overwhelmingly positive, with an astonishing rate of 96%.

One of the answers is to mark well, as it suggests that SEGA will now strive not only to port other games to PC / Steam, but also to make PC releases out of the get-go for their brand new entrances franchises.

Q: “Persona 4 Golden” is selling well on Steam, but do you have plans to sell new games on Steam as well?

A: We’ve remastered ‘Persona 4 Golden’, a title previously released on the PlayStation Vita, and launched it for sale on Steam this fiscal year. Due to the critical acquisition of the game and its low selling price, sales were much stronger than expected. We will continue to actively promote porting of previously released titles to Steam and new platforms. We are also negotiating in the future with platform owners for new games, and we are considering ways to sell under favorable terms for each title. Among these are measures such as preparing PC versions of the games from the beginning, with multi-platform releases in mind.

Indeed, SEGA has released several previous Yakuza games on PC, and the next installment (Like a Dragon) will be released this November on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the same time. Phantasy Star Online 2 was also recently launched on Steam, while the expansion / overhaul of New Genesis is scheduled to debut in 2021 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
