People ‘should not be afraid’ of spreading coronavirus from food, food packaging, says WHO


Are you worried that you might get the new coronavirus from food or food packaging? No need for such fears, the World Health Organization (WHO) said this week.

“People should not be afraid of food, or food packaging or food processing or delivery,” Mike Ryan, executive director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, said Thursday in Geneva, according to Reuters.

The official’s comments came after a report that a batch of frozen chicken wings from Brazil that were exported to China tested positive for the new virus, Chinese officials said this week.
