Chamber member Nancy Pelosi condemned President Trump’s efforts to “suppress” the vote and “scare” people away from the polls in November and urged Americans to come up with a plan to vote.
“Do not pay attention to what the president says, because it is all designed to suppress the vote,” Pelosi told a rare news conference on Saturday ahead of a vote on a U.S. Postal Service funding bill.

Pelosi and Democrats have accused Trump of trying to sabotage the November election by delaying the post and submitting incorrect voting information via mail.
Now they say Trump is using more tactics for voter repression by suggesting that he will send law enforcement to polling stations to control the election.
“Why would he do that, except to scare people?” You Pelosi.
“It says in their playbook that they will have intimidated people into voting by having agents from ICE … or other law enforcement agencies there to instill fear in people when they appear,” she said. “… It’s scary, but ignore it. It’s a suppression-the-voice tactic.”
Trump, who opposes widespread post-voting and has warned of potential fraud, told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday that he is interested in having legislation at polling stations to control the vote and prevent fraud.

“We will have everything,” Trump said. “We will have sheriffs, and we will enforce law, and we will hopefully have American lawyers, and we will have everyone, and generals of lawyers. But it is very hard.”
Trump raised the possibility that states that send out broad-based polls over the coronavirus pandemic could play political games.
“They may be sending them to all Democratic areas and not to Republican areas, for example. It may be the other way around, but I doubt it,” Trump said.

Pelosi urges voters to ignore repression tactics and get their votes early.
“Ignore them. Make a plan to vote,” Pelosi said. “… Vote early so we have an outcome that is as clear as possible on election night.”
She added: “There may be something counting after the election, but I hope our victory will be so great … that it will be so clear.”
