Chamber of Deputies Nancy Pelosi dismissed President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell during her speech Wednesday night against the Democratic National Convention, and spoke to Republicans for obstructing the Democrats’ policy agenda.
‘Who’s in the way? Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump, “said Pelosi, the top woman in the federal government. “Our nation is facing the worst health and economic disaster in our history.”
She said McConnell and Trump have blocked legislation to lower prescription drug prices, build the nation’s crumbling infrastructure and update the Voting Rights Act, among other issues.

“We have passed Senate bills to protect our dreamers, promote LGBTQ equality, prevent gun violence, preserve our planet for future generations, and more,” she said. “All of this is possible for America. Who’s in the way? Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump.”
Pelosi’s speech during the third night of the convention, when the party will nominate Kamala Harris as vice president, making her the first Black woman to appear on a presidential card of a major political party, comes amid of a stalemate with high stakes between Democratic leaders and White House officials over another package for coronavirus relief.
Led by Pelosi, Democrats have called for an extension of the $ 600-a-week unemployment benefits and $ 1 trillion in support of cash-strapped states and local governments. But Republicans, worried about the nation’s ballooning shortage, are calling for a pared-down incentive package. The next impasse has endangered potential trillions of dollars for American families and businesses.

“Our nation is facing the worst health and economic disaster in our history,” she said. The virus has infected more than 5.5 million Americans, the highest in the world, and killed at least 175,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The California Democrat, who wears a white jacket in the clip for the suffragist movement, also paid tribute to the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote.
Pelosi is the first and only woman to have served as Speaker of the House. She held the 2007 and 2011 positions and was re-elected in 2019 after Democrats regained control of the House of Representatives.

She portrayed Trump as an enemy of women in her speech, saying she witnessed “Donald Trump’s first respect for facts, working families and for women in particular – disrespect written in his policies regarding our health and our rights, not only his conduct and bearing. “
“But we know what he does not know: that if women succeed, America will succeed,” she added.
