Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has warned Paul Pogba that he will not want to end his career with regrets.
Pogba has been in bad shape for United since his arrival from Juventus, but in his last appearance as a substitute and in his last Premier League start, he looked like a player who wanted to be at Old Trafford.
This despite regular reports that he wants to leave the club and would prefer to move to Real Madrid or return to Juventus.
However, the coronavirus plus the low standard of his form seem to have paid off the chances of any move anytime soon, and he can now sign a new deal to stay at United.
Solskjaer said:
“Paul knows he is a special talent and he does not want to look back on five or ten years and think that I did not make the most of it.
“He is already a World Cup winner, he has won things with Juventus and with us, so I am not surprised by his enthusiasm and dedication to us.”
“We are looking to keep Paul here and we are looking to keep the best players here anyway.”
“The two of them can play well together and that is exciting,” said the United coach about Pogba and new signing Bruno Fernandes playing together. “There will be rotations and times when Paul will play Bruno sometimes deeper, sometimes he will play on a diamond.
“But of course it has been encouraging to see them together, but it is also encouraging to see how Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Fred make it difficult for me to leave them out, which is good for me as a coach.”
United will play Norwich City in the FA Cup final, with the possibility of Solskjaer moving closer to his first dish as club manager.
