Patrick Mahomes can’t keep up with his girlfriends at workouts at home

It’s hard to think of an athlete who has a better time in the spotlight than Patrick Mahomes. After becoming the NFL’s golden child in 2018, he briefly took a back seat to Lamar Jackson before having the final laughs and lifting the Super Bowl trophy in February. At home, however, Mahomes is just like us. He recently took to YouTube to talk this out for GQ Sports.

The time of Patrick Mahomes to shine

It’s hard to believe that Mahomes, despite becoming a household name and entering the sports lexicon the way a few are for him, has only played Mahomes in two seasons as a full-time starter.

After I went 10th in the 2017 NFL Draft. Mahomes spent most of his rookie season behind Alex Smith when he saw the Pro Bowl quarterback lead the team to a 9-6 record before winning his only game as a starter.

The following year, however, everything changed for the better. Mahomes got the keys to the franchise after Smith moved to Washington. Although Mahomes was the tenth general choice of the concept, no one expected him to be a superstar. However, Mahomes did not waste time to see why he was one of the draft quarterbacks of the 2017 draft.

The Chiefs went on a tear, and Mahomes’ arm combined with the speed and skill of teammates like Tyreek Hill made her an overnight success. Mahomes did not simply show that he was talented; he already declared that he was practically a superstar.

He threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns against just 12 interceptions, leading the Chiefs to a 12-4 record. However, after falling on Tom Brady and the Patriots, the team had to wait for Super Bowl glory.

Fortunately, that wait was not too long. Although Mahomes and company used a more conservative offensive schedule, the Chiefs were still among the best teams in the NFL. While Lamar Jackson got the kind of press that Mahomes had the year before, Mahomes stood tall came up the Super Bowl, and after showing an unusual ability in the coupling, he was a champion and an MVP.

For the GQ Sports Undercover series, Mahomes answered questions that were both directly and indirectly thrown his way. Mahomes answered many questions about everything from who his dream goal would be as a quarterback (Randy Moss) to who he most looks forward to as a quarterback (Aaron Rodgers). However, not all questions were about football.

Mahomes answered questions about his favorite video game, which he claimed was Call of Duty. He talked about his choices for pregame music, food, comparison to LeBron James, and much more. However, the most interesting part of the video may have to do with its workouts.

Many of the questions focused on Mahomes had to do with his workout schedule. While talking about his choice of shoes and ultimate goals, he spoke especially candidly about how tough his coach is at home.

No, this coach is not one hired by him or the Chiefs, but his girlfriend, personal trainer Brittany Matthews. Mahomes said Matthews carried him through workouts and continued to show the public video of what he was doing at home.

Mahomes said Matthews has been dealing with training that even a world-class, Super Bowl winner is like a hard time to keep up with. In a world where several athletes cannot get their typical reps, Mahomes has the luxury of a built-in personal trainer that does not leave him free for a day.

Still just 24 years old, this commitment to fitness could be what makes him dominant for years.
