Just before the Walt Disney World parks reopen to the public, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings says he is “pretty comfortable” with the complex’s reopening plan.
At the Orange County COVID-19 Update press conference on Monday, Mayor Demings outlined the steps Disney is taking to contain any possible spread of the virus and said, “We have to try to stimulate our economy, but not we want to do it at the expense of risking people’s safety, “adding” we will only have to monitor [the situation] going forward.”
Visitors visiting the parks must undergo temperature controls before entering, and wear face covers while inside the parks (with the exception of specific areas), with social distancing, hand washing and disinfection stations, and Greater cleaning and disinfection is also used.
Earlier in the day, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis reiterated his position that the parks were safe to reopen, calling Disney’s plan “very, very thorough.”
