Oppo Watch w / Wear OS coming July 31

Oppo released its first smartwatch earlier this year, but it is already getting a new version. Debut next week, an updated Oppo Watch will run on Google’s Wear OS platform.

The original Oppo Watch that launched in China earlier this year was based on Android, but it was a forked mask of the platform that had a completely custom interface. The watch was originally supposed to debut in China, but has since been released in other regions, such as Germany, only this week.

We don’t know much about this updated version of Oppo Watch, but thanks to a promotional teaser the company released (via Engadget), we know that you will use Google’s Wear operating system. Beyond that, we also know that the design will be essentially identical.

What exactly is happening with this new wearable? It seems likely that this is a second generation device, but it is also possible that it is only a slightly modified version of the same hardware that is designed for more markets around the world.

More information will appear to be revealed in this upcoming smartwatch on July 31.
