- Oppo will debut its 125W fast charge technology this week.
- You should be able to charge a phone to 100% capacity in 15 minutes.
- Oppo’s sister brand Vivo also plans to debut the 120W load soon.
Oppo’s 65-watt SuperVOOC 2.0 charging technology is currently the fastest on the market. You can recharge a 4,000 mAh battery in just 30 minutes.
If that wasn’t fast enough for you, the company has confirmed that it will launch its insanely fast 125W fast charging solution on July 15. Oppo posted a teaser for the upcoming fast charging technology on Twitter. Check it out below.

We don’t expect Oppo to announce a new smartphone with a 125W fast charge on July 15. However, we may get a timeline for when the technology will be commercially launched. More importantly, we will finally see how the company plans to implement the solution on new phones.
For what it’s worth, Vivo, Oppo’s sister brand, has also announced an upcoming 120-watt fast charging solution for its range of Iqoo phones. According to Vivo, it will soon launch a phone with the Iqoo brand with the new charging technology. The company claims that the device is capable of reaching a 50% charge in just five minutes and 100% in 15 minutes. It’s probably the same for Oppo’s next 125W charge, although it could be a little faster.
How fast is too fast?
While fast charging speeds of 100W and above may sound great, they could have their downsides. At the beginning of the year, Xiaomi listed several technical difficulties with the 100W fast charge, such as the biggest degradation of the battery over time, security and more.

In fact, when Oppo tested the Reno Ace 2’s 4,000 mAh battery with a fast charge of 65 W, it found that the battery capacity dropped to 91% after 800 charge cycles. While that’s not a bad thing, increasing the charging speed to 100W or more could also speed up battery degradation.
However, we hope that manufacturers like Oppo and Vivo will solve all these problems before launching their fast charging solutions to the market. We will keep you informed as we learn more about your plans.
