Olivia Newton-John’s ‘broken heart’ in poignant tribute as Kelly Preston dies of cancer


Olivia Newton-John shared a heartfelt tribute after John Travolta revealed that his wife Kelly Preston had died.

The 71-year-old actress, who played Sandy alongside John in Grease, turned to social media to share a heartwarming message with the family.

On Sunday, John revealed that his wife Kelly had sadly passed away at the age of 57 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Olivia, who has also battled cancer three times, said: “Kelly was a radiant, warm and gentle spirit: a loving, devoted wife, mother and sweet friend.

“My heart breaks for John, Ella and Ben. No word can express my sorrow for their family. Kelly’s light shines on her beautiful children.

In a second publication, Olivia wrote about the CHEC initiative “Not Under My Roof” in which the couple had worked to protect the health of the children.

John has been inundated with heartwarming messages since he revealed that his wife had sadly died.

In his candid announcement, the actor explained that she had been battling cancer for some time and had decided to keep her diagnosis secret.

Olivia Newton-John had been friends with John Travolta’s wife, Kelly.

The actor added on social media: “I will take time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you have not heard from us for a while.”

“But please keep in mind that I will feel your outpouring of love in the coming weeks and months as we heal.”

John and Kelly were married in 1991 and share children with Ella Bleu, 20, and Benjamin, 10.

Olivia and John have shared a close friendship that has spanned over 40 years, ever since the famous duo appeared on Grease in 1978.

Speaking about his lifelong bond, a few years ago John told People: “‘When you share that kind of meteoric success, and nothing has been able to overcome it, you share a bond.

“I have been through her having a child, getting divorced, losing her sister. She has been through my marriage, having children.”
