Officials watching “Clear, Sustained Deceleration of the Pandemic” Across Orange County; No outbreaks associated with Walt Disney World

Fans of Disney Parks who would like to return to Walt Disney World can start planning with some assurance that COVID-19 rates will finally drop to a sudden peak earlier this summer.

Guests enjoy late afternoon crowds at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Orange County officials are following declining positive and hospitalization rates, with six consecutive weeks of a marked decline in new cases, and the lowest positivity rate in two months at just 7.58%. The positivity rate has now remained below 10% for two weeks, with 5% the new target.

Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino noted,“There is a clear, sustained delay of the pandemic in our province.” Dr. Pino has previously stated that no outbreaks have been recorded at theme parks such as Walt Disney World, and the few individual cases that have been self-reported have been found to show no direct correlation with the theme parks.

De Sentinel reports that outbreaks have been detected in smaller workplaces and long-term care facilities in neighboring Osceola County, mainly due to people who have gone to work symptomatically. State health authorities emphasize the importance of hand washing, social distance, and face covering forward to keep numbers in the right direction.
