Officials are responding to a report of an ‘active shooter’ on Sevilleville Walmart

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) – Sevilleville police say two people have been arrested after a reported gunman at Walmart on Parkway. The call came as an active shooter on Wednesday afternoon.

Dozens of people rushed out of the mart mart at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the manager of a nearby Chick-fil-A store.

Cody Cummings told WVLT News anchor Amanda Hara between 20 and 30 that there is a safe haven inside the Chick-fill-A store she manages. The rest restaurant is next to the rent and door. Cummings said a civilian safe inside his store reported a fight between the two men, which resulted in one man pulling out a gun. People nearby panicked which led to panic.

Cummings said one of his employees was inside the mart mart when customers were warned over a loudspeaker that a man with a gun was passing by the store.

Cummings reported that a SWAT team was formed in the area, clearly searching for a potential gunman.

WVLTA tried to reach the Walmart store but no one answered the phone line. A crew of WVLT News went to the scene.

Saviorville’s Tanger outlets were also put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon but officials said they believe there was a threat on the shopping center’s campus.

Authorities were not able to immediately release any information on whether anyone was injured.
