NY Health Network faces criminal investigation over unauthorized COVID-19 vaccine


New York state health officials said Saturday they are investigating a Brooklyn-based healthcare provider on suspicion of violating state guidelines for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Percare Community Health Network “could fraudulently obtain the COVID-19 vaccine in violation of state government guidelines, transfer to facilities in other parts of the state and turn over public members – contrary to plans to run the state’s first frontline healthcare. State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker Workers, as well as residents and employees of the nursing home, said in a statement.

He added, “We take this very seriously and the DOH will assist the state police in conducting a criminal investigation into the matter.”

The Parker community could not immediately be reached for comment.

He posted photos of the Moderna vaccine on his Facebook page on Tuesday, saying his centers received treatment that morning, five days after he posted the vaccine “right to be distributed” to people who meet certain criteria.
