For the first time in two days, North Carolina Health and Human Services released a new COVID-19 metric – the state does not release new numbers on Thanksgiving.
The new metrics show that 5,210 people have died from the virus in North Carolina. Is an increase of 72.
The state is also registering 354,514 cases, an increase of 8,008.
They increase mortality and cases, but they cover more than the usual 24-hour period, as they are not considered a record increase.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is expected to release the new COVID-19 number around noon Friday.
It will be the first appearance of the new numbers in two days, as the state does not report numbers on Thanksgiving.
However, the reported cases will not reflect the case caused by the Thanksgiving gathering. Health officials say that number will appear in about 7 to 14 days.
Health experts warned Americans against massive gatherings with loved ones who do not live under the same roof, but the number of votes and travel indicates that many families do not follow those warnings.

A record 1,811 people were hospitalized in the state, according to a North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services report Wednesday. It was a new high and came after setting a previous high on Tuesday. This is the news as many people gather for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The latest Centers for Disease Control reports that somewhere between 294,000 and 321,000 seaweed-19 related deaths are possible by December 19th. On Monday, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams told Americans to keep “small and smart” regarding the celebration of Thanksgiving.
Due to the holiday, the state is not expected to release new COVID-19 data on Thursday.

Sanford Mayor Chet Mann issued an emergency declaration to strengthen Governor Cooper’s executive orders, which should be used by individuals in North Carolina to face-ing and reduce the business limits of most indoor activities.
Executive 176 and 180 mandate ordering face covering in public and indoors when not in the presence of members of the household. It lowers the gathering limit for spaces within 25 to 10 people.
The announcement for Sanford City will take effect on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 5pm and will remain in effect until amended by Mayor Mann.
This state of emergency does not include additional rules, Mayor Mann said. “This is an attempt to strengthen existing rules, allowing the city manager to deploy employees as needed.”

Wake County Public Health has confirmed the outbreak of COVID-19 at Heartfields in Kerry, a supportive lifestyle and memory care facility located at 1050 Crescent Green in Kerry.
This is the second outbreak confirmed at this location.

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety announced that the prison leadership is consolidating some of its operations to reduce the increase in COVID-19 in North Carolina and its impact on the prison system.
As a result, the following actions were performed:
On November 22, operations at the Rolandolf Correctional Center in Asheboro were temporarily suspended and staff were temporarily transferred to other prisons in the region.
On November 20, operations at the Southern Correctional Institution’s Minimum Custody Unit were temporarily suspended to help staff better assist other parts of the prison in Troy.
On Nov. 25, operations at the Salisbury-based Piedmont Correctional Institution’s Minimal Custody Unit were temporarily suspended so employees could help facilitate moderate occupations in the prison complex.
Affected offenders were transferred to other prison facilities of appropriate custody level.
The department said in a news release that the consolidation of these prisons was necessary due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the criminal population from several state prisons and the need for additional staff in these prisons.

North Carolina admitted 1,811 to several other COVID-19 hospitals Wednesday. The hospitalization on Tuesday was also a new record.
In the last 24 hours, 247 new patients with confirmed cases of COVID-19 were admitted to the hospital. 306 people were admitted with suspicious cases.
One percent of the newly admitted patients are over 0 years of age. Percent percent is under 39 years of age.
As of Wednesday morning, 431 adults were fighting COVID-19 in ICUs across the state.
More than 20,000,000 new cases have been reported in the state, the third since the outbreak began.
A total of 4,212 new cases were reported on Wednesday.
The percentage of positive tests is currently .3..3 percent.
Wednesday Morning Storylines
The state’s new mask order will begin Wednesday at 5 p.m., requiring masks in all indoor public places. The most notable revisions include rest restaurant rentals in which customers are required to sit down and wear a mask and gymgoers continue to wear their masks.
There were fewer passengers than usual at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Wednesday morning ahead of Thanksgiving.
Disease control centers have advised against traveling and joining in large numbers for the holidays. While it may reduce some seasonal travel, it is not universally sticking. The Transportation Safety Administration said Monday it had screened more than 2 million people in the weekend before Thanksgiving.
A free COVID-19 test is being offered at the Smithfield Men’s Progressive Club on Old Goldsborough Road in Smithfield from 9am to noon on Wednesday. You do not need an appointment or show symptoms to receive the test.
