It’s a different world on the recruiting path for Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the rest of college football. Since official visits were taken off the table in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, the programs have struggled to do their utmost to secure the nation’s best talent commitments for 2021 and beyond.
Along with Zoom calls, virtual visits and regular text messages, calls and the love of social networks that Notre Dame uses, they have a lot of help from their current commitments. No other Irish engagement has been more vocal or public than offensive lineman Blake Fisher.
Avon’s 4-star prospect, Indiana, was tough again over the weekend, braving the heat and humidity of a July midwest, and was on campus to “host” the 3-wing tight end. Mitchell Evans stars on an unofficial visit.
Evans from Wadsworth Ohio is a big target for the Irish at the moment as they are trying to get a second tight end for the 2021 class alongside Cane Berrong. The Irish are trying to win over Evans and secure a compromise as they fight the Michigan State Spartans, the Pittsburgh Panthers, the Florida State Seminoles and others.
Showing himself as a multi-tasker and a “dog on the road” Fisher also made sure that the main Notre Dame general prospect knew that there is a lot of delicious love for him in South Bend.
The Irish are in a big fight with the Michigan Wolverines over offensive lineman Rocco Spindler, and as we get closer to their August 8 announcement date, every little bit counts. Fisher is seen here in front of Rocco’s in South Bend. Rocco’s is one of the city’s most beloved pizzerias, and has been around since 1951.
I mean … essentially, he’s an offensive lineman who harasses another offensive lineman with pizza. What is not to love about it?
