– The best father we could have had

– He’s the best father we could have had. He has been a fantastic father, the children, Juni and Vetle Sulen Skogseth tell BA.

They describe a father who always created and spread a good atmosphere, and especially tell the good memories with his father in Sotra’s cabin.

– There was always a lot of joy, and there was always a joke lurking. Everyone liked him, they say.

Juni and Vetle say their father kept his spirits up, even to the end.

– There is a great man who has left us today. We are grateful that the immediate family was around him the last time and for all who have visited him. We would also like to thank the Sunniva department at Haraldsplass, because they have been absolutely fantastic there and they have given us a very nice time with Dad before his death.

He fought cancer for 14 years

Since 2006, Tommy Sulen has fought the battle of his life.

First, the diagnosis was angina pectoris, which causes the heart’s blood vessels to narrow too much. But in February 2007, a new diagnosis was made: multiple myeloma or bone marrow cancer. A disease that gradually degrades your entire immune system.

In 2011, he spoke with BA about the incurable disease for the first time.

– I was shocked. Everything was turned upside down, he said at the time.

Since then, he has reported on the disease and the fight several times in the media.

– A fairytale

Tron Jensen, Sulen’s partner and best friend for 30 years, says he took the news of the death seriously.

– He has been my best friend in this life, and it has been an adventure, he says.

Jensen has many good words to say about his friend:

– Tommy was a fantastic entertainer. When he was in shock, he was the best in Norway. It could set fire to any congregation.

Also, Jensen says that the few times he visited his best friend in the hospital, most of them laughed.

– That’s how he was. He always had a witty comment, even when he was very ill and dying. It has always impressed me.

– I heard it before I saw it

Fyllingen Håndball received the message of death with great sadness.

– It is not an exaggeration to call Sulen a super fan, the club writes on Facebook.

They refer to how the ardent Fyllingen fan was known for his big “shout” in the stands during matches.

– You heard it more often before you saw it. And when he saw it, he was greeted by Fyllingsdalen’s broadest smile, he continues.
