The interest in the 600 tickets for Molde-Arsenal is enormous, and it has also led to unwanted cases.
MOLDE (Nettavisen): That’s why Lars Outzen, the club’s ticket manager, and Molde have taken action ahead of the big Europa League game at Aker Stadium on Thursday.
– We introduce identity checks at all entrances. It is not just because of the black market, but we are also sure that the ones who come are the ones who are really on the list, he tells Nettavisen.
However, the Molde leader says they have already discovered a situation where tickets for the match were sold at a price of blood.
Despite the fact that only Molde subscribers have had the opportunity to get a ticket for the match against Arsenal, for a period there were also offers of tickets for sale at the Swiss company Viagogo.
Price per ticket? 1000 crowns.
– We discovered a case in which they had sold four tickets to an individual, explains Outzen.
He got hold of the person in question, but says he does not have significant sympathy for the person who may have thrown 4,000 kroner out the window.
He also has no sympathy for Viagogo. The company operates promoting various sporting and cultural events, and sells tickets, often much higher than the regular price.
Then they go to the website of the respective organizers and request tickets as a private person. The problem in this case is that Molde does not sell tickets, but raffles them internally among 400 lucky holders of the season.
Outzen reacts strongly to the Viagogo practice.
– I think it is reprehensible, but in Switzerland it is legal. We know that this is a big problem in many countries, and they account for a large part of ticket turnover. This is a known issue, he says.
The online newspaper has sent criticisms to Viagogo, but so far they have not responded to our queries.
– Could have sold 30,000 tickets
Outzen has had a hard time handling inquiries from fans wanting a ticket to meet one of England’s biggest clubs.
– We could have sold the stadium three times. I think we could have sold 30,000 tickets, he says.
However, only 600 will be staying at Aker Stadion on Thursday, of which 200 are reserved for members.
The other 400 will be raffled among the club’s season cards.
– There has been a lot of pressure, especially at the beginning when suddenly we had a lot of fans across the country who were also Arsenal fans, says Outzen.
This meant that the club had to publish information on its own website, but consultations have not stopped for that reason.
– It took a while, but there have been many emails and phone calls, he says and points out that it is a shame that not more people experience that a Norwegian team meets one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
You will see an offensive Molde team
Thursday’s game against Arsenal is the most important in many years in Molde. Erling Moe’s team is second in the group after six points from three games, and is a solid underdog against Mikel Arteta’s team.
However, the league runner-up has no plans to settle against the London club.
– I hope we see a Molde team that wants to dance. We will do it offensively. We know that we are facing an adult task, but we must let go and show ourselves. It’s when Molde is at its best. We must be good enough to bite, Moe said during Wednesday’s digital press conference.
Also present was Captain Magnus Wolff Eikrem. He knows that a point for Molde can be crucial to advance to the quarterfinals.
– It is not often that we receive visits from the best teams in the Premier League and the world. We have put ourselves in a good position and this is one of the most important matches in history at Molde Stadium, Eikrem said.
Molde has taken six points in the first two games, and they are in the quarterfinals if they are that good in the last three games.
“We have played well in the last two weeks, and it is games like this that we dream of playing,” Eikrem said.
