SJUSJØEN / OSLO (Dagbladet): Johannes Høsflot Klæbo was among the stars competing in the 15 kilometer freestyle, after overcoming the sprint on Friday.
He led for a long time, but was ultimately beaten by talented Harald Østberg Amundsen (22), who knocked out the elite and was 17 seconds ahead of Klæbo at the finish. Jan Thomas Jenssen came third.
– When you’re in great shape, like I noticed you were today, it’s fun. You can almost have time to have fun on the trail and it was good, Amundsen tells NRK.
For Dagbladet, make:
– This was incredibly cool. I got good support along the way and was able to adapt along the way. I knew that Johannes (Høsflot Klæbo) is very good in the end. When I got there for 5-6 seconds I thought this could be extremely smooth. Fortunately I managed to increase a lot in the end, I am very proud of that.
– It was a great achievement for Harald. Pick up where you left off in Beitostølen. I wouldn’t say it’s surprising. He’s been good all fall and he’s really a man for the future, Eirik Myhr Nossum tells Dagbladet.
He says he wanted to beat Klæbo in the distance race for the year and says it was a bit of motivation.
– Kjipt
Amundsen is disappointed that he cannot appear at the Davos World Cup.
– I have worked against Davos all year, it is no secret that it is uncomfortable. The first time I meet Beito and here, and it will not be Davos, I am disappointed, he says, at the same time that he does not want to criticize the Norwegian association.
– The association has probably made the right decision. There are many factors to consider. As a runner, I only see that I want to walk. But for me it’s uncomfortable, he says.
Klæbo, for his part, believes that he walked with a certain ease along the way.
– It was a perfectly good race. I tried to gently open up and walk smoothly. A perfectly fine race. The body feels good. I was a bit quiet in the latter part of the second round, but overall perfectly fine, Klæbo tells NRK after the race.
The special grip of feeling
I had the command
Klæbo took command early in the race with a strong start. From behind, he was pressured by Jon Rolf Skamo Hope, who scored two fourth places at Beitostølen two weeks ago.
The 22-year-old kept up with the Klæbo times for a long time, but then Thomas Johannessen suddenly signed up after a strong final round. At 12.6 kilometers, there was a difference of eight seconds between him and Klæbo. In the end, however, it was 18.20 seconds that separated them.
And from behind came another race that wanted something to say in the battle for victory. Harald Østberg Amundsen led by five seconds at Klæbo at 10 kilometers, and was heading towards a suspenseful finish.
But only Amundsen increased the lead and finally won by 17.10 seconds.
– Smash Klæbo! said Jann Post of NRK Live.
Broke
There are fewer races for athletes this season before a possible World Cup, which means that it pays to perform when you can. Simen Hegstad Krüger was one of those who disappointed and was more than two minutes from goal.
– There is something wrong when I take it. It’s something that grinds a bit. It is very boring. Tomorrow I’ll see what I do, whether it’s resting or training my body hard.
Martin Johnsrud Sundby failed to start at kilometer 15, while Ansgar Evensen broke before reaching halfway.
– It indicates something is out of balance this weekend here, said NRK’s Jann Post about Evensen.
– Looks like he’s gone crazy, said NRK expert Fredrik Aukland.
