– I would not have “Ahre Ketil” with me at the shooting range – VG

KNM’s “Harald Hårfagre” squad commander Sakarias Lundstad believes that qualifications in “first-time service” have been put to the forefront.

– “Ahre-Ketil” is a guy I wouldn’t have had with me at the shooting range, Lundstad tells VG.

He follows the series and is also sure that many of the soldiers do the same.

– It is good entertainment and I also hope that the soldiers will talk about the series among themselves. But we don’t exactly want them to be inspired by the characters, says Sakarias Lundstad.

The Forum of the Armed Forces was the first to address this issue.

– “Ahre-Ketil” is an example of someone who at least I consider unfit to perform the functions that are available to him safely and appropriately, continues Lundstad.

– Is “Ahre-Ketil” the most desperate character at the crime scene?

– No one is completely desperate and a lot can be done in a short time. Personally, I consider “Ahre-Ketil” to be hungry and motivated, but obviously on the wrong basis, and clearly in no condition to carry a weapon.

– Must they be “recruits from hell”?

– Now I would never describe a soldier / recruit with those words, but after watching the series itself, it clearly would have been a challenge to have these characters in my squad. But if it had happened, we would have handled it accordingly and implemented the necessary measures to safeguard the security and interests of the Armed Forces.

What Sakarias Lundstad recognizes first and foremost is that the “First Service” characters illustrate the diversity of different personalities who walk through the door, ready to serve in the Armed Forces.

– The character I know best in that sense must be “Preben Lohrengren”, says Lundstad.

When it comes to a character like Ola Halvorsen, the Lundstad troop commander doesn’t have much left for his “friend” way of addressing a superior.

– If a recruit had accused me in the same way as “Ola Halvorsen” does in the series, I would have spoken with the person in question to explain why it is not okay. I am here to carry out my service and my work in the best possible way, and that in the role of superior and supervisor, which implies showing care, but also making demands. I want the recruits to have the same mindset, says Lundstad.

But not only the officers and the crew of the Armed Forces are happy with the “First Service”. Expectations were high and interest was formidable for the new episodes of the series when it launched on Friday. Nearly 1.1 million watched all five episodes on the first day they were available.

– This is a series that has more viewers under 50 than over, and more under 30 than over 67.

– We have never experienced this before. Not even with popular series like “Shame” and “Exit,” NRK head of analysis Kristian Tolonen tells VG.

He says you never know if a series will come out even if it has been popular before. But when it comes to “First Time Service”, expectations have certainly been high.

– One thing is a million on average, and most of it flowed. But it’s also a show that has more viewers under 50 than over, and more under 30 than over 67, says Tolonen.

Audience figures for “First Time Service” by. Monday shows that in the age group 12 to 18 there are 102,000 viewers, the figures for the age group 19 to 29 are 254,000.

– When it comes to these two age groups, in practice nobody has seen anything linear, only on NRK TV, says Tolonen.

In the 30-49 age group, not many of the 410,000 viewers have seen the “First Time Service” in a linear fashion. Only when we reach the group of “healthy adults” (50-66) are more than half of the 187,000 viewers who have seen the series on regular television. Of the 59,000 in the 67+ group, almost everyone has viewed the series in a linear fashion.

– The fact that the numbers are almost evenly distributed among people aged 50 to 66 says something about the fact that herring has become quite common in most people, says Tolonen.
