Swedish health authorities hold a press conference on the status of the crown in Sweden. At the same time, the country is also coming under fire for wearing bandages by European health experts.

The case is being updated!
The epidemiologist Anders Tegnell opens the press conference saying that in Sweden they have a calm development of the coronavirus.
– Some increase can be expected, but we have also increased the number of samples by 30-40 percent. The general spread in Sweden has slowed down quite a bit, he says.
Tegnell also believes that the effect of people starting to return to their jobs has yet to be seen.
However, in recent times Sweden has experienced severe weather, despite the fact that many other countries have experienced much more pronounced increases in the number of infections.
Several epidemiologists in Europe argue that Sweden continues to make mistakes at one point; bandage.
– Here I completely disagree with Anders Tegnell, says Antoine Flahaul, professor of epdimeology at the University of Geneva, to Svenska Dagbladet (SvD).

– One of the most important measures
Sweden is still the country in the Nordic region where the majority of people have died as a result of the coronavirus, but earlier this week there were reports of major outbreaks in both Norway and Denmark than before.
The WHO Department of Disaster Preparedness has declared that it is “really excessive” to call the Swedish strategy irresponsible.
At the same time, more and more countries have started to act like Sweden, leaving schools, restaurants and shops open.
But Flahaul still describes the use of face masks in the country as a “serious mistake.” David Nabarro, WHO Special Advisor, also agrees.
– It’s a shame he doesn’t wear a mask. So you take off one of the most important measures that protect us from infection, he tells SvD.
The director of the Belgian public health agency, university professor and virologist Marc van Ranst, also believes that “a country like Sweden” should definitely have a requirement for a microphone on public transport.
– We are in another phase
In early September, Tegnell stated that Sweden will not change the advice on wearing face masks immediately, but at the same time said that it may be important locally.
At Thursday’s press conference, Tegnell was asked if he thinks that the increase in infection in other countries and the decrease in Sweden means that the Swedes have done the right thing. The epidemiologist thought they had a different development.
– It’s hard to say. The decline came later in other countries. We are probably in another phase. We must be careful to uphold our recommendations. Also, we have a different situation in Sweden because we have not returned from a full shutdown, he says.
– We can look long term. But so far it has worked well that we have kept the same restrictions. It is a model that has worked well in Sweden, says the epidemiologist when asked by TV 2 if the Swedish strategy has been better than the Norwegian one.
– Must see what works
Tegnell also doesn’t believe that the fact that more Swedes have started traveling abroad, combined with high infection in several countries, has had too great an impact domestically.
– So far, a very small proportion of infection cases are attributed to people who have been to other countries, he says.
The doctor generally believes that the majority of the inhabitants of Sweden have agreed that they must live with the coronavirus restrictions for a time.
– Then we look at ourselves and see what works and what doesn’t.
On Thursday, only one death was recorded in the last 24 hours, for a total of 5,843 deaths in Sweden.
Currently 13 people are in intensive care. These are the same numbers as Tuesday.
