Alarms in Hol: Several tested positive after traveling home from the mountains, writes Hallingdølen.

The second week of winter holiday traffic for the Cabins Township soon ends, and the last week there has been no positive test in the Township. But Hol can’t shrug.

– The figures do not reflect the situation, writes municipal chief physician Silje Aasheim Koldal in the Hol municipality’s infection control status report on Friday.

Here it states that there is a “significant risk of contagion” in the municipality.

Took quarantine in the cabin

Mayor Petter Rukke (Labor Party) tells Dagbladet that it has been a challenge for cabin guests from both Oslo and Bergen to get a “chance”, for example from a doctor, to be able to go to the cabin, even if they were in quarantine. or waiting for quarantine.

Cabin guests have also used the tests in the cabin township.

– But it was a great burden for our testers, also in relation to the fact that there are other types of injuries when people come to the mountain to ski.

So it turned out that the cabin passengers who made the trip over winter break went home again and tested positive for COVID-19.

– It’s a great challenge. It is not registered as an infection in our municipality, but close contacts may be here, says Rukke.

The mayor says the municipal chief is excited about the results that are expected tonight and Saturday.

– Now we have had a lot of people here for two weeks in connection with winter break. Most have been good when they have been here, but some have been advised to self-quarantine in the cabin. Bergen’s director of infection control came out and recommended against traveling afterward, he says.

– Still hoping

Now, the municipality has done many tests for infection in the last week.

– I and others in crisis management still hope that this does not lead to a major outbreak.

There has been “total pressure” on Hol for 14 days, says the mayor. The municipality has 4500 inhabitants. On Friday they approached 20,000 people in the municipality.

– The potential is great. In crisis management we are on the alert if the infection turns out to be spreading in the local community, says Rukke.

The municipal chief doctor Koldal tells Hallingdølen that they have some situations that have not been clarified.

– There are two or three cases. We hope this will all end well, but if we get positive test results now, the scope will be wide, he says.

Isolation

The mayor says they have also had “very few cases” of people who have traveled to Hol, who have been infected and have perceived that they could be in the cabin in isolation.

– Some have interpreted the rules on isolation in their own unit. The cabin is a separate unit, says Rukke and continues:

– It’s a big challenge when they come. If they get worse and have to be transported, the air ambulance service may be taken out of service in connection with disinfection.

He experiences that most of the people have been very good when they have been in the municipality during the winter holidays.

– I understand very well that they want to use their vacation home in the situation we have been in this year, but communication has been too poor, they say about spending isolation and quarantine in the cabin.
