In the wake of last week’s extensive leak of The Last of Us Part II, the debate has centered on who might have been behind it. Several have claimed that the information comes from a disgruntled Naughty Dog employee, but according to a recent report, hackers are talking about the developer.
The report came from the Bloomberg journalist. Jason Schreier, after conversations with two people with direct knowledge of the case. They say hackers exploited a security hole in an old Naughty Dog game to break into the developer’s servers.
– The rumors that this was a protest by a consultant (in Naughty Dog, journ.anm) who was not paid are not true. In fact, Naughty Dog has expanded the salary and health insurance for consultants because of covid-19, Schreier writes.
The report is consistent with recent statements by Sony, the publisher of The Last of Us Part II. In a statement to Gamesindustry.biz, the company said it had identified the people behind the leak and that they had no connection to Sony or Naughty Dog.
Right after the leak, Sony announced a new release date for The Last of Us Part II: June 19, 2020. The game has been through several releases, but now everything should be fixed and cleared.
