Demand for air tickets in the United States has decreased by 96 percent since mid-March, and on domestic flights there are now only an average of 15-20 passengers, according to industry organization Airlines for America.
For airlines, the situation is dramatic. American Airlines reported a loss of almost NOK 23 billion in the first quarter, and the second quarter is likely to be even worse.
United had a loss of revenue of almost NOK 18 billion in the first three months of the year, and Delta reported a loss of NOK 5.5 billion.
JetBlue files the May 4 order and also United and Delta in an effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
