Four sources say they are aware of a phone conversation between Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on April 2, alleging this to Reuters.
According to sources, Trump told the Crown Prince that, unless OPEC reduces oil production, Trump will not be able to prevent Congress from withdrawing US soldiers from Saudi Arabia.
According to a US source. Bin Salman was expelled due to the threat and ordered his advisers to leave the room in order to continue the conversation with Trump alone, the source says. Ten days later, the production cut was announced.

In an interview with Trump at the White House on Wednesday night, Reuters asked him if he had told the Crown Prince that the United States could withdraw its forces from Saudi Arabia.
“I didn’t have to tell him,” said Trump.
– I thought he and President Vladimir Putin were very sensible. They knew they had a problem, and then this happened, Trump continued.
When asked what he said to the Crown Prince, Trump replied:
– They had trouble agreeing. I had a conference call with him and we were able to sign a production cut.
Saudi authorities have not responded to requests for comment. A Saudi official points out that the entire Opec +, that is, the OPEC, as well as a group of partner countries with Russia at the helm, was behind the cut in production.
