According to the police, the man is unharmed and the search operation has ended.
The man was involved in an accident along Odnesvegen between Hunndalen and Bybrua in Gjøvik on Sunday night.
Witnesses are said to have seen a man leave the scene. It was shortly before 10 pm on Sunday.
– So we didn’t get in touch with the person. It was believed that he had left the place. There was no reason to believe he was particularly hurt, Løvseth said Tuesday morning.
He was reported missing
After that, no trace of the man was left. On Monday night he was reported missing.
– We have been looking for it tonight, but there are difficult conditions. There is a lot of snow in the area, says Løvseth on Tuesday.
Police have had few leads to follow. The man’s cell phone stayed at home.
The disappeared were possibly in the direction of Bybrua.
Light on Tuesday
Police dog patrols, volunteer search teams and helicopters have been used in the search in hopes of finding the man.
The Red Cross has had 17 people with him to register, and Norwegian People’s Aid has had 14 people. They started at 11:40 p.m. on Monday and had a break last night from four o’clock to about eight o’clock on Tuesday.
– There is currently a replacement crew to begin the search further throughout the day, says district council leader Anita Helén Abelstad at the Oppland Red Cross auxiliary cross after 08:00 on Tuesday.
– They have covered a lot, but it is difficult to get around there, at least on foot, so they have to use ATVs and scooters, he says.
He said the weather conditions were good, but the challenge was the snow.
– We have good people who are looking, but it is clear that it is a challenge when you have problems moving on foot, says Abelstad.
