Monica had recently volunteered to help out at a health station in Oslo and received the AstraZeneca vaccine on that occasion. This weekend he died of a blood clot.
In a Facebook post on the page for the Oslo Jewish Museum, the museum writes Monday that Monica is one of two who died at Rikshospitalet in Oslo this weekend.
“Monica had recently volunteered to help out at one of the health stations in Oslo, and in that sense she was vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine. She died of a blood clot» writes the museum.
Avisa Oslo mentioned the case for the first time.
The Norwegian Medicines Agency reported on Sunday evening the two new deaths in which patients who have received the AstraZeneca vaccines had the special combination of blood clots, bleeding and low platelet counts. A causal link between the vaccine and suspected side effects has not yet been established.
“Lively and always smiling”
According to the museum, Monica has been for several years a clear and visible member of the board of directors of the association of friends. She is described as a lively and always smiling person. Monica has worked for several years at the weekly Hjemmet, but in recent years she has worked as a freelance journalist and guide in Oslo.
“Monica had many interests, which made her an interesting conversation partner. She was well acquainted with recent history, the royal house of Europe and, above all, her favorite city, Rome.”
VG has contacted a Jewish museum in Oslo that does not want to say anything other than what is written on Facebook. Family and close friends confirm to VG that the information in the Facebook post is correct and has given VG permission to mention the death.

Monica’s Friend: – Glowing Engagement
A close friend of Monica’s tells VG that she took the initiative for a reading circle that they have had over the years and that they have shared many good memories together.
– We were study friends and we studied art history together: we have also lived together in Rome and we have studied art history there, says the friend.
According to her, Monica loved real stuff and was very knowledgeable.
– She was honest, interesting and exciting. A somewhat ruthless guy, who attracts you a lot, says the friend.
– It was incredibly fun. She worked as a journalist, but volunteered for health care. He had many travel plans. He loves Rome and wanted to go with me to Greece. The time with the crown was very different for her. He loved to cook, be sociable, and meet friends. It was urban and modern, with fervent commitment.
Worked as a guide
Aafløy Hansen started in the summer of 2018 as a freelance guide at the Oslo Guidebureau, according to Sandefjords Blad. General Manager Marit Utaker says she did a very good job.
– We are so sorry and we think it is absolutely horrible. He worked especially with real material and Jewish tours for us. She was very kind, inclusive, and always aligned.
– He was very fond of Italian, so he often went out to the airport and met Italian guests, says Utaker.
