Now it turns out that NAV has managed to publish the CVs of more than 200,000 job applicants on the website, but there is a problem here. None of those affected were asked for the consent of NAV if they were okay. Romerikes Blad was the first to mention the case.
– When this became clear, we closed access, reported the deviation to the Data Inspectorate and began to inform affected users and employers, NAV director Hans Christian Holte told the newspaper.
Privacy violation
In a press release on the NAV website, they themselves admit to having made privacy information available without legal authorization.
«We have required that job applicants receiving NAV tracking, which also includes those receiving unemployment benefits, must register their CV at arbeidplassen.no. Resumes are automatically made available to employers. The goal has been both to make it easier for employers to find workforce and to make it easier for job seekers to find it. We have conducted a new assessment and have concluded that sharing is a privacy violation. NAV cannot give employers automatic access to CVs.“, They write.

NAV now deeply regrets what happened.
– We are working to obtain a complete description of the case. Individuals must be sure that we process personal data in accordance with the law. Therefore, we regret that in this case we have broken this trust, Holte writes in an email to TV 2.
The NAV itself claims that this bug has given employers access to name, date of birth, phone numbers, email address, and education. work experience, other experience, courses, driver’s license class, approvals (certifications and the like), language, summaries, stated competence, and job requirements.
