– My best goal in the Bundesliga – VG

It often becomes goal-oriented when Schalke and Dortmund, both from the Ruhr region of Germany, meet in the “Revierderbyet”. Only half an hour by car separates angry rivals, and it is the Dortmund fans who have been able to speak loudest in the pub after the last clash between the teams.

Schalke has struggled to find its way to the net masks, while Erling Braut Haaland and co. he has set goals and humiliated the enemy. On Saturday the scoring party continued.

This was Jærbuen’s third match against Schalke and, for the third time in a row, he also finished on the derby’s top scorers list.

And that with a dream score. Haaland delivered his contribution to the Fall Show with a style study of a scissor kick, in which he threw the ball into goal from a floating position in the air.

The goal comes a few days after the Norwegian forward’s show of power against Sevilla in the Champions League.

Just over ten minutes before the end, Haaland put up his second for the night. He has 43 goals in 43 appearances for Dortmund since the transfer in January 2020.

Half an hour into the first half, Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann had to leave injured. The former Brann goalkeeper was replaced by former Vålerenga goalkeeper Michael Langer.

He didn’t get a nice welcome, because just before the break, Benjamin Stambouli blew it up in front of his own 16 meters. Dortmund intercepted the ball and Jadon Sancho was safe in the final moments.

Three minutes later, Haaland doubled the lead in spectacular fashion. The last two goals before the break set the stage for a comfortable victory for Dortmund.

Schalke hit the post a few minutes after the break, but never got any closer. Instead, the visitors were raised to 0-3 by Raphaël Guerreiro. He played through Marco Reus, who rounded 300 matches in yellow and black, and received the ball in exchange for the German. Alone with the goalkeeper, Guerreiro was not wrong.

Haaland, second of the night, was the simplest kind. Jude Bellingham threw the ball low into the area, where the Norwegian wondered. From close range he was not mistaken. His 17th goal in the Bundesliga this season.

After 30 consecutive seasons in the Bundesliga, Schalke are waiting for their scariest spring in a long time. The team were without a win in six games before Saturday’s meeting with Dortmund, and relegation danger threatens. Christian Gross’s men are last in the Bundesliga with nine points to safety.

Dortmund haven’t had a great season either, and are still six points away from a place in the Champions League next season.
