There is a large outbreak of infection in the Margarinfabrikken kindergarten in the Sagene district of Oslo. – Kindergarten closes for the week, confirms City Director Morten Sanden.

The Sagene district reports Tuesday evening that more cases of positive tests for COVID-19 have been detected in the Margarinfabrikken kindergarten.

According to the city director, Morten Sanden, among these cases a possible variant of the mutated virus has been identified.

Tonight, the district has had meetings with the director of infection control in Oslo and NIPH and has been given advice on infection control at the meeting, says the district director.

Based on the overall situation in the kindergarten, the district has deemed it necessary to immediately close the municipal kindergarten, with 481 children and 130 employees.

– This is necessary so that the district can get a better overview of the infection situation and limit further infection, it says in the information sent to parents and guardians Monday night.

The kindergarten will be closed from Wednesday February 17 to Friday February 19..

Encourages testing in children older than two years.

During the period when the kindergarten is closed, all employees will be asked to take a test for covid-19. Parents are encouraged to test children older than two years.

There are about 130 employees in the kindergarten.

Children and household members who have already been quarantined or awaiting quarantine by the district infection team are linked to earlier messages.

The district expresses strong regret and discomfort inflicted on parents by closing.

“We ask to understand that such a dramatic measure is necessary,” he says in the information.

The municipal kindergarten located in Bjølsen has 481 children between the ages of 10 months and six years and 130 employees. The margarine factory is considered the largest kindergarten in the country and houses the rehabilitated margarine factory from 1927.
