James Comey is known as a strong critic of outgoing President Donald Trump and has ended in several wars of public word with the president. It was also Trump who fired Comey as head of the FBI in 2017.
Comey is the man who started the first investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election campaign and connections to the Trump campaign, something Trump later stated as the reason for the firing.
In a new interview with the leading British newspaper The Guardian, Comey is not courteous in his verdict on the violent riots and the Republican Party.
– The Republican Party must be burned or changed, says the former head of the FBI.
Comey believes that the core of the party is based on “lies and racism.”

In the interview, he draws a parallel between the takeover of Congress on January 6 and the Chernobyl accident in 1986, when a reactor exploded at a nuclear power plant in Ukraine.
“What Donald Trump has been doing for the last five years is attacking the building from the outside to weaken the foundation,” Comey said.
He continued:
– You have removed the control rods, and that is the recipe for a nuclear disaster. That’s what you saw on Capitol Hill, our own Chernobyl, when ugly radioactive violence and racism in America exploded before the public, he says.

Not served by “daily drama”
He believes that the United States does not benefit from Donald Trump’s “daily drama” in the nation’s capital, Washington DC.
“I think the best thing for the country is to take him to court, try him in the Senate and allow local prosecutors in New York to prosecute him for the scammer he was before he took office,” Comey said.

A New York judge has previously ruled that the Trump organization must turn over tax documents related to a property, which is being investigated by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who is the state’s chief prosecutor, according to CNN.
James has been investigating US President Donald Trump and his business organization since 2019. The investigation began after Trump’s former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, testified in Congress.

Among other things, he portrayed the president of the United States as a mob boss-like figure, trying to blur the line between law enforcement authorities and politics. He also wrote that Trump has tried to pressure Comey in the Russia investigation.

– My impression from the election campaign was that he is a deeply insecure man, which prevented him from showing humility, and that it seemed highly unlikely that he had the confidence to ask questions about “what do I miss”. But that day I didn’t see enough at Trump Tower to assess whether or not my assessment was correct, Comey wrote.
