Another person’s death was confirmed Sunday morning after the Gjerdrum landslide.

Police say the person was found shortly before 6 a.m. by USAR teams from the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service, who have worked on the ground overnight in the landslide area.

Work is now under way to transport the person out of the area. Police currently have no further information on the find.

On Saturday, the discovery of three dead was reported. Also on Friday, one dead was found in the landslide. On Saturday night, the police announced that it was Eirik Grønolen (31) who was found on Friday.

A total of five people have been confirmed dead after the landslide on Wednesday morning. Five people are still missing.

Bridge user used

Last night, search teams used Armed Forces bridge construction in the landslide area in Gjerdrum. Shows live video of the area. Operations Manager Sveen can also confirm to Dagbladet that the user has been put into use.

– The ground work that had to be done in order for it to be put into use has been completed and has therefore been put into service in connection with the rescue work last night, Sveen tells Dagbladet.

He says the bridge user secures his access roads to the accident site and that it will make the work of the ground crews safer.

– The basic work that had to be done was done faster than expected, so the bridge user gets up and running immediately, he continues.

Did not complete the search operation

The plan was to wait until 4 o’clock on Sunday night, but after 4 o’clock, Operations Manager Sveen confirms to Dagbladet that a request is still being made.

– Something had been said about an estimated time, but during the night they have chosen not to terminate the rescue operation. The prerequisites to continue are there, and now the time to finish has not been considered. Now the message is that the work will continue until another order is given, Sveen tells Dagbladet.

Rescuers announced yesterday that they will be working through the night to check various marks made by dogs.

A new crew will work that day.

Looking for survivors

Fire Chief Kenneth Wangen of the fire service said during a news conference Saturday that people have been found where expected.

– As we identify the finds, we can connect them to where people have lived, so that we can search as efficiently as possible overnight. We are still looking for survivors, said operations manager Wangen.

It says the deceased who was found Saturday night was found in the area where police gave them information to search.

– It was the intelligence of the police and the marking of the dogs, which made us find the last person.

By intelligence is meant testimony, emergency calls in the early stages, as well as drone footage.
